Vasiliy Vorobiev Was born in Alma-Ata (Republic of Kazakhstan) in 1975. He has been engaged in the art of weaponry since 1994.
Vasiliy mastered the techniques of blacksmithing in the process of his involvement in the art of creating weapons . During this time, he was engaged in easel painting and sculpture. Experiments with the combination of different types of art brought the author’s work to a special plane beyond the established traditional canons and classifications The artist discovered the path of focusing on the knife, as the main thing in a decorative table composition, on to a full-fledged independent sculpture, where the blade becomes a secondary, but still important semantic object.
In the creative workflow for Vasiliy the most important thing is the experiment: combination of technical treatments, non-standard combinations of materials and household items. He forms his own style in the spirit of modernism, achieving unlike anything else changing effects and images, built on a special surreal sense of plastic change and rhythm. These works are distinguished by metaphorically complex compositions, bold attempts to materialize the immaterial and allegorical juxtapositions and movements.
Vasiliy’s works have been exhibited at the IWA international exhibitions in Nuremberg and “Masters of arts” in Paris at the exhibition “Style. Image. Harmony. Master gunsmiths of modern Russia” in the Hermitage, at the Gokhran exhibition “Jewelry craftsmanship. Traditions and modernity”.
The author’s works are also displayed in State Museums and private collections in Russia.
Since 2014, he has been a member of the creative Union “The Guild of masters-armorers”. In 2016, he joined the creative Union of decorative and applied artists. Now he lives and works in Belgorod, Russia.
