I started making knives after graduating from college in 2017 when my sister, who is also an artist in Manhattan, told me about someone she knows who makes knives. I had stopped creating art and she thought this could be a cool new medium to get me excited about creating again.

Now retired from being a firefighter in the FDNY I have gone all in on this new found passion. Being from New York City and almost all knives being illegal, I never had an affinity for knives from a young age and did not grow up carrying them or using them as tools other than in a kitchen. I believe this was the leading factor in shaping the type of pieces  I create. Being an artist before a knifemaker, I am much more interested in designing knives as sculptures as opposed to tools of pure function. Enjoying drawing and painting moments found in nature has also shaped the pieces I create. For example, In my handle carvings I like to capture peaceful moments in nature like the flow of a stream or the ripples of a still pond being interrupted by a curious creature or falling leaf. By using other art forms as influence like sculpture, painting, drawing, ceramics has helped me to create my own recognizable style. One in which I’ll continue to explore and enjoy pushing the boundaries of.

I received my MasterSmith in the American Bladesmith Society in 2024. and I look forward to sharing my creations with you all for years to come.
