Curt Erickson began making knives in 1983 after meeting knifemaker Buster Warenski (now deceased), a friend of his father’s. He credits Buster as a great inspiration and this influence continues to shine through Curt’s work.
Erickson’s knifemaking began as a hobby and he welcomed the chance to express himself artistically and work with his hands. After winning several awards, he was inspired to switch to full-time knifemaking and is currently one of the youngest voting members of the Knifemaker’s Guild. He makes many different types of knives but unabashedly declares himself most passionate about his art knives – especially daggers.
In the spring of 1990 Curt’s knifemaking took a back seat as he pursued his childhood dream of a law enforcement career. However, as his retirement draws close, he looks forward to devoting himself once again to full-time to knifemaking.
Currently, Curt works with his wife, Julie Warenski, as a husband and wife knifemaking team. Together they continue the great tradition of bladesmithing.
