A New England native, Zack Jonas began his bladesmithing career in 2006 under the guidance of master bladesmith JD Smith. Following a formal apprenticeship to Mr. Smith, Zack earned his ABS Journeyman Smith stamp and became a full time maker in 2012. He earned the rank of Master Smith in 2019. Zack sees this achievement as a beginning, rather than an ending; a place from which to build a meaningful legacy of work in his own aesthetic vocabulary. He is drawn Eastern and Indo-Persian blade forms throughout history and enjoys fusing disparate traditional styles in unexpected ways. Zack often enjoys a “less is more” approach, relying on strength of form and clarity of line to express intentional design. His work is meant to draw the eye into the overall form, inviting an exploration of the choices and subtle details woven into each piece. Zack has displayed his work at prestigious shows around the USA and has clients around the globe.
